Motives and Implications of Consumerism and Overconsumption

Dr. Amimul Ahsan received a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of Fukui, Japan and he has more than 15 years of research and teaching experiences. Currently, he is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering, Uttara University, Dhaka, Bangladesh and Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Civil & Construction Engineering, Swinburne University of Technology, Melbourne, Australia. Previously, he was an Assistant Professor, Dept. of Civil Engg.; a Key Researcher, Housing Research Center; and a Research Associate, Institute of Advanced Technology; University Putra Malaysia (UPM), Malaysia (April, 2010 - Feb, 2017). In 2006, he joined as a Lecturer in Khulna University, Bangladesh. He attracted research grants worth over RM 1 million. He involved in collaboration research with many researchers and scientists in the world and published 9 books, 16 book chapters, 128 journal articles (mostly ISI & Scopus indexed) and 25 international conference articles (total=178 articles). He has been serving on the editorial board (as an Editor-in-Chief (4), Editor/Associate Editor (6) and Member (11)) of 21 international scientific journals for a long time. His h index in Scopus is 22. The Honorable Chancellor, UPM [Sultan Selangor] has conferred him “Vice Chancellor Fellowship Award” in 2015.

Hiroshan Hettiarachchi is a civil engineering professor from the United States and currently serving as the Head of Unit – Waste Management at the United Nations University (UNU-FLORES) which is an integral part of the United Nations (UN) system. Before joining UNU in 2013, he was a professor and the Director of Civil Engineering Graduate Programs at Lawrence Technological University, in Michigan, USA. Professor Hettiarachchi’s work covers multiple topics including, sustainability, circular economy, nexus thinking in environmental resources management, waste management, and geotechnical engineering.

حصل ماجد على درجة البكالوريوس في تخصص المحاسبة من جامعة الملك سعود عام 2003 . وفي عام 2005، حصل شهادة تعادل درجة الماجستير في العلوم المصرفية. وفي عام 2007 حصل على درجةالماجسيتر في العلوم الإدارية من بريطانيا. في عام 2012 قام بإتمام برنامج متخصص في القيادة وإدارة المشاريع من جامعة سان دييغو بالولايات المتحدة الأمريكية ، وفي 2015 م حصول على شهادة من كلية إنسياد العالمية في فرنسا لاجتياز برنامج متقدم في قيادة التأثير الفعال للقادة. كما حصل على عدد من الشهادات من خلال حضور العديد من البرامج التدريبية والندوات والمؤتمرات ذات التخصص الإداري والمالي والفني والصناعي خلال مسيرته العملية.
يتمتع ماجد بأكثر من 16 عاما من الخبرة العملية في مجالات مختلفة تشمل المؤسسات المالية والصناعات الأساسية والتحويلية والنفط والغاز والطاقة المتجددة والمستدامة والمجالات الخدمية وذلك من خلال عمله لدى منظومات سعودية كبرى كالبنوك والشركات الصناعية والخدمية.
كما تم إستقطاب ماجد لعضوية مجالس إدارة عدد من الشركات السعودية المساهمة في مجال الصناعات الأساسية والتحويلية والنفط والغاز، بالإضافة إلى عضوية عدد من اللجان التنفيذية ولجان المراجعة لشركات مساهمة كبرى.
تعامل ماجد من خلال مهام عمله مع جهات حكومية مختلفة كوزارة الطاقة والصناعة والثروة المعدنية، وزارة التجارة والاستثمار، وزارة التخطيط والاقتصاد، وزارة الزراعة والمياه والبيئة، وزارة الشؤون البلدية والقروية، هيئة السوق المالية ، وهيئة المواصفات والمقاييس والجودة وجهات تشريعية أخرى.
إكتسب ماجد من خلال عمله في مجالات مختلفة عدد من المهارات القيادية والإدارية والفنية بما في ذلك وضع الخطط الاستراتيجية وإعادة الهيكلة وبناء ثقافة وهوية المنظمة ، إدارة عمليات الإندماج والاستحواذ، عمليات الطرح الأولي للاكتتاب العام، تطبيق نظام معلومات الإدارة، تقييم الفرص الاستثمارية، الإلمام بكافة التعاملات المصرفية، التدقيق والرقابة الداخلية، إدارة المخاطر، حوكمة الشركات، التفاوض، التأمين، إدارة المشاريع، وتنفيذ تخطيط موارد المنظمة والأتممة ورسم السياسات والإجراءات المنظمة للعمل، بالإضافة الإدارة مشاريع رفع كفاءة تشغيل المصانع وانتاج وتوليد الطاقة النظيفة والمتجددة حسب أفضل الممارسات البيئية العالمية.
