2nd International Scientific Meeting on Camel

Coinciding with the approval of the Council of Ministers headed by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz – may God protect him – to designate the year 2024 AD, the “Year of the Camel.” In celebration of the unique cultural value that camels represent in the lives of the people of the Arabian Peninsula, and coinciding with UNESCO’s celebration of the year 2024 AD as the Year of the Camel, Qassim University represented by the College of Veterinary Medicine, in coordination with the Emirate of the Qassim Region and the branch of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture in Qassim, organizes the Second International Scientific Meeting on camels in conjunction with Camel auction in the Qassim region (Dhariya Governorate), during the period from 3-5 Jumada al-Awwal 1446 AH, corresponding to November 5-7, 2024 AD, at Qassim University, under the slogan “Camels 2024: Sustaining the Legacy.”

Objectives

Establishing a scientific forum to learn about the latest scientific and research developments in the fields of health, diseases and economics of camels locally and internationally, in order to contribute to the development of this important economic wealth and to support the Blessed Kingdom’s 2030 vision.

Determine the nature and extent of health problems facing investment in the camel sector and develop scientific plans and recommendations to treat them.

Developing a modern and future plan to increase camel productivity by identifying the latest research developments in the field of treating infertility problems, genetic improvement, nutrition of camels, and manufacturing and safety of their products.

Identify the results of research on the benefit of camels and their products and the possibility of using them in diagnosing and treating human diseases.

Reviewing the economic and social aspects of camels and highlighting the role of camels as a popular and national heritage.

Holding various exhibitions for companies and entities related to the needs of camels and their products.
